One of the shallower dive sites in Key Largo, Sand Island is a great spot when the seas are too rough or there is too much current to dive elsewhere. Lots of Elkhorn coral, soft corals and puffer fish are seen here. Not to be underestimated are all of the juvenile fish that can be seen in the nooks and crannies on the northeastern shallow areas.
