Winch Hole
The Winch Hole is the most popular site on Molasses Reef. The site gets its name from a large winch which sits in a sand patch in 25 feet of water. The winch is believed to have come from an Austrian sailing ship that ran aground in the 1800s. Eagle Ray Alley, Logan's Run, Coral Canyons and Hole In The Wall are all just a quick swim away.
Large schools of Parrotfish, Snappers and Chubs can be found here. Also Barracuda, Tarpon and Goliath Groupers are frequently sighted.
A great spot for beginners, juniors and even snorkelers, the depth here is only 25 to 30 feet. The Winch Hole is also a popular Night Dive due to the variety of nocturnal life found here.
